Head Coach Steve Florio

Steve Florio came to Purdue Fort Wayne in 2003 after spending four years at Hofstra. He joined the staff as an assistant coach at that time under head coach Kelley Hartley Hutton, and was promoted to Associate Head Coach in 2007. After Hartley Hutton was named the Athletic Director in 2014, Florio was named the eighth head coach of the Purdue Fort Wayne women's volleyball program.

Florio received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Francis (Pa.) in 1998 and a master’s degree in secondary education from Dowling College in 2002.

He lives in Fort Wayne with his wife, Katie.

As Head Coach (2014-present)
  • Led Panna Ratkai to earn the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year award in 2023 and 2024 and Player of the Year in 2024
  • Coached Katie Crowe to an All-America and All-Region Honorable Mention distinction in 2021
  • Led Katie Crowe to be named Horizon League Player of the Year in the spring of 2021
  • First Horizon League Championship berth in the spring of 2021
  • Program's first National Invitational Volleyball Championship postseason tournament berth in 201
  • Back-to-back 18-win seasons in 2018 and 2019
  • Back-to-back Summit League Tournament semifinal appearances
  • Third-place finish in Summit League regular season in 2019
  • Coached Emily Spencer to Summit League Player of the Year in 2014
As Associate Head Coach/Assistant Coach (2003-2013)
  • Two NCAA Tournament appearances (2009, 2012)
  • Two Summit League Tournament championships (2009, 2012)
  • One Summit League regular season title (2010)
  • Helped lead the Mastodons to a 238-115 from 2003-2013
